Welcome to my new blog. If I’ve held your interest this far I should start by introducing myself. I’m in my 20s and make a living doing website programming as a freelancer; you could say that’s my strongest skill but I’m interested in business in general. A great blog that I read (written by Someone Important in technology) recently said that one of the best things for programmers to do is move to Silicon Valley to get involved in the technology scene there. The only problem is that I live in a small city in western Canada and don’t plan to leave soon.
Fortunately the area that I prefer to focus on - technology - has a way of working around small issues like “2500 miles”. Will I be able to live the dream without living in a tiny house that costs a lifetime’s worth of money? Stay tuned for more…
My goal for this blog is to talk about the many issues regarding how to make it big in a small city - from marketing to personal finance - and what I’m doing. Hopefully it’s helpful - or at least mildly interesting - to someone. Hopefully I get a comment or two - maybe even from you!
You can contact me at siliconprairieblog@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing anything this blog makes you think about!

Thanks for your comment on Friday defending O’Leary’s remarks, Silicon Prairie (www.advisormecca.com). I appreciated it. I posted a respectful rebuttal. You brought up a legitimate point.
As soon as I heard him say it on SqueezePlay, I wrote that blog entry, which is why it probably comes off as a tirade.
I’ll keep tabs on your blog. All the best.
